When I was Technical Director for NetDevil (and then LEGO) from 2007 until 2011, Nathan worked for me as Technical Lead. He was, and is, one of the best software engineers and game developers I have worked with. He is passionate about games and software development; he works quickly, diligently, and with remarkable and constant attention to detail. On a personal level, he is also a pleasure to work with; he is friendly, self-effacing, and congenial. If you are building software, you definitely want Nathan on your team.

At first glance, Nathan comes off as a cheerful, well-rounded, and like-able guy. Probably at second and third glances too! However, it's after working with him do you start to realize just how valuable he is in a development capacity. His ability to store and recall (seemingly) infinite amounts of data make working with him an absolute joy. For example, literally ANY question I had about our codebase, he was able to recall quickly, and accurately. It made my time as a new developer (with Nathan as my senior) at Wyrmbyte easy and enjoyable! This also carried into sports stats, or video game trivia, or really anything; riffing off "The Simpsons" quotes with him is a blast, if you're in to that sort of thing. That intellectual prowess is then coupled with a uniquely friendly leadership quality that Nathan exhibits on a daily basis, even when you know he's stressed out about some other part of the project! He's really a guy you can get behind, trusting and knowing that his decisions are correct because he's weighed all options and data at hand. I ended up WANTING to crunch with him when it came down to it. All in all, I can't think of a single negative quality of Nathan, even if I had to. Maybe that his efficiency, leadership, and productivity will make your company too much money? I know this review might come off as exaggeration, it certainly did seem that way as I wrote it, but I stand behind my recommendation: this guy is awesome! I'd work with Nathan again without a second thought.
