Development and assessment of a radiogenic helium method to date hematite (Fe2O3) formation2.) Trace metals in calcium carbonate deposits precipitated from Lake Bonneville watersI completed a number of major tasks that demonstrate my capability to perform laboratory work, analyze data, review scientific literature, and prepare technical reports and figures. These tasks included:- Performing wet chemistry and other procedures to prepare hundreds of samples for age determination and trace metal analysis using laser-equipped gas extraction line and ICPMS- Using MS Excel to organize large and complex datasets, streamline data reduction, and perform statistical analysis- Creating simple geochemical models in Excel to allow interpretation of patterns in data- Modifying Excel charts and ArcGIS maps and creating schematic diagrams in Adobe Illustrator- Performing background research and learning concepts pertaining to several subjects, including:+ noble gas diffusion+ factors that control the behavior of uranium in hydrothermal solutions+ complexation and transport of heavy metals (U, REE, Pb, Ba, Sr) in fresh waters - Writing and preparing original maps and figures for journal manuscript, focused on results from project (1) above- Contributing data, interpretations, and written material to two papers focused on results from projects (1) and (2) above.
