VRS - I call someone who can hear, and uses the phone to communicate. Or someone calls a Deaf person and it comes through a call center, and I or another person would call the Deaf person on their VP. I interpret the call between the Deaf person and the person who can hear(a Boss, policeman, Pizza calls, family calls, conference calls) basically anything you would use the phone for we interpret for our customers. Interpret when needed for Deaf patients at a minimum security lockdown Psychiatric facility. Ran groups and when a deaf patient was present I Interpreted only, when I was not needed as an interpreter I had a regular counseling position. I had a caseload that I was responsible for but it was lighter than other counselors because I also was responsible for interpreting as well. There were 3 other ASL interpreter/counselors on staff, so I was not just interpreting all the time...it was a good year of getting my feet wet in the psych field. At the time I was majoring in psychology and was just interpreting to get through school ha...
