Created a capacity and needs assessment of protected natural areas in Northeast Mexico as part of the agreements of COP-7 to strengthen conservation capabilities in Mexico.• Elaborated a diagnosis of the capacities needed for the establishment, management and conservation of National Protected Areas (NPA) in the northeast region of Mexico. The diagnosis was part of a national Pronatura A. C. project commissioned by The Nature Conservancy, The World Wildlife Fund, and Conservation International. It included area-wide surveys of personnel, NPA performance analysis, interviews with diverse conservation leaders in the region, and a 3-day analysis workshop with stakeholders Designed and conducted two workshops based upon best practices of North American Wetlands and the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Acts, for environmental coordinators and field workers from national nonprofits to improve report writing and assessment capabilities.
