Urban gardening - international style. You know how in most urban gardens you get your own few square metres and they leave you to it? Not at the creative garden. Here everyone is responsible for everything. There is a yearly rotating vegetable garden, which includes a chicken pen, and a newly planted fruit forest. Together with the community, which varies in age from newborn to retired, and originates from Australia to South-America, we sow, grow, weed and harvest fruits and vegetables, some of them I had never heard of before. I participated in Seed Valley's Summer School "Green Genetics". It was a week full of lectures, visiting companies and their fields, and most importantly getting to know companies' atmospheres. I have spent 3 months on a mountain in South Africa, working on a thesis titled: Bushbabies’ perception of fear in relation to canopy cover and spatial position within trees. To measure fear, I used giving up densities. This meant hoisting buckets with sawdust and food pellets into trees at sundown, and bringing them down at sunrise, as bushbabies are nocturnal and all other monkeys in the area diurnal. During the day I sieved the remaining pellets. The furthest tree was about 1km away from my accomodation, and I walked there 3 times a day. I received a letter of recommendation from both the student supervisor (Oldrich) and owner (Ian Gaigher) at Lajuma. My final mark was 8/10. Show less

I fed young great tits using tweezers. They had to be fed every 30 minutes. After eating they would poop, which I removed from their nests. I fed young great tits using tweezers. They had to be fed every 30 minutes. After eating they would poop, which I removed from their nests.
