What doesn't a teacher do? Probably the most important role of a teacher is managing a room: adapting to individual student needs, keeping the whole group on task, and dealing with discipline all while delivering rich lessons under strict time requirements. As an English teacher, I also constantly edited student writing, providing feedback for revision. I organized a curriculum, planned lessons, wrote tests, gathered data based on student performance, and retaught as necessary. I worked with my team to comply with state regulations, including giving common formative assessments, submitting student data to BOCES, and reviewing instructional strategies. I worked with several students with special learning needs requiring that I comply with their Individual Learning Plans. Show less
