First year undergraduate 5 week field school excavation training.Taught skills within the BAJR Skills Passport.Geophysical survey techniques: Basic magnetometry skills.Recording skills: Context sheets, plan and section drawing, GPS, and photography.Post excavation skills: Finds processing and recording.Environmental sampling techniques: Sample collection, floatation sampling, recording, and storage.The field school taught me a wide range of basic excavation skills and how to recognise features and stratigraphic changes while developing an individual interpretation to a site section and its relationship with the overall site.
