-I took my experience of working with Covid to Circular1 where I organise and manage a high workload to very tight schedules. -I help the company prepare for the UKAS audit, ensuring that the site and staff members are complying with ISO 15189:2021 standards. -I manage a department within the lab which includes solving any problems that arise, leading and looking after the members of my department and making critical decisions to support the movement of samples, ensuring that we meet our customer target times. -I also provide regular updates on our progress to other departments across the site to align with their deadlines and to manage expectations. This also has the benefit of creating a close-knit team. Extras Throughout my time working in labs, I have been involved with many teams and projects. These include: -Active Health and Safety team member for several years. I have: ~Performed H&S audits and then composed comprehensive reports for them. ~Carried out and coordinated the H&S walk rounds for the Labs. ~Helped one site to change to the ISO 45001 standard. ~Identified hazardous practices and written risk assessments for these. ~Worked with a company to achieve the Bronze HWL award and drove the project to achieve the silver award. - STEM ~ Visiting schools to teach experiments that build up excitement and enthusiasm for Science. ~ Speaking at careers days to give advice and information about a life in Science. - Social and Wellbeing team ~Brought free fruit initiative and discounted gym memberships on-site. ~Organised several departmental social events and helped with the site-wide events. -Fire Warden ~I have been a volunteer fire warden on site. I decided to gain experience within a different environment, so I took on the challenge of a 3 month contract with FixedPhage, a small research company. This gave me an opportunity to: -Work closely with company clients and improve my existing customer service skills. -Plan out experiments and research methods for the individual clients’ project. -Lead and manage my own project workload while still collaborating with colleagues on their projects. Quality Control Scientist
-
Jun 2016 - Feb 2020
-My primary area of responsibility within Quality Control is the Cell culture department. Due to working shifts, I have also gained extensive experience within Microbiology and Analytical Chemistry. - Updated and refined many of the SOPs for the department. Written my own procedures for new testing. -Written validation testing reports. -I have been trained in a GMP environment so my writing is concise and accurate. -Reviewing my peers work is a regular part of my job. This requires a keen eye and a sense of diplomacy. -I am adept in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SAP. - Since I am frequently required to raise Out of Specification reports and Deviations, I also have extensive experience in identifying the important facts from a convoluted situation and communicating them clearly and promptly to other departments on-site. -Sent out all the samples that required external testing (and kept track of these). As such I was given the opportunity to communicate and develop relationships with professionals from a variety of backgrounds. This also allowed me to hone my skills at imparting scientific information in a straightforward and accessible manner. Show less
