    • Activate Leadership Programme - Logistics Team Leader
      • Mar 2015 - Jun 2015

The Activate Leadership Programme run by AIESEC Auckland, this involved creating an event for an issue within New Zealand, where we could create tangible and sustainable change. With a team of 14 other students, we orchestrated an event about child poverty in New Zealand. Our goal was to create an event that was engaging, and could shine a new light on an issue that is clear and prevalent to many. The intention was to allow people to have a micro-experience of what it might be like to be put in these children's shoes, and to remove the stigma of how difficult it may seem to come out of poverty. With this goal in mind, we created our event called: Escape Poverty. This involved a 'game of life' activity where participants were put into groups and asked to make decisions based on their income, family situations and both social and financial difficulties that arise. We also orchestrated an activity where we provided a variation of 'school lunches' to the audience and displayed how 1 in 4 children living in poverty may not get nutritious lunches in order to facilitate discussion. In order to create a tangible, long running effect, we held a can drive in order to raise funds for KidsCan. Achievement: Won Best Event AwardMain tasks and responsibilities include: • Working with other functional teams in order to reach the same goal. • Innovate workshops and activities. • Logistical planning – including creating run sheets, managing behind-the-scenes of the event, directing and moving volunteers. • Writing proposals and presenting ideas to externals.
