    • Marine Mammal Medic
      • May 2013 - Apr 2016

As a Marine Mammal Medic, I am on call to attend marine mammal standings within the UK, specifically Cornwall. The nature of the call outs can vary in terms of species and outcome, I have been involved in the rescue of sea birds, grey seals and cetaceans, all of which I have received specialised training in remaining safe at the stranding, providing care to the animal and either releasing the stranded organism, removing it for treatment at another facility, or awaiting a vet for euthanasia. Working as a Student Ambassador for Cornwall College, I was able to work around the county promoting further and higher education at various events, including; Boardmasters, UCAS conventions, Open Days, and school assemblies. My duties as an ambassador varied depending on the objectives for the event, in some cases I was encouraging potential students to get in touch with Cornwall College to investigate and potentially apply to courses provided by the Cornwall College Group. Being a Research Intern required me to collect data for multiple ongoing studies.
