Project Manager and Proposal Writer
-
Sep 2019 - Present
This role was full-time from 2019-2023. I continue to support the HeroX team in a casual capacity. HeroX is an two-sided platform that connects some of the world's biggest problems, with the world's best innovators. We help our client's design and host incentivized innovation competitions around problems they need solved, and the solver network has the opportunity to submit solutions and win the prize. As a Project Manager on our Challenge Success team, I work with our clients to support them through the entire life cycle of their open innovation challenge, from the challenge design phase to the evaluations and winner announcement. I have worked with clients such as NASA, Airbus, USDA, CDC, and Woodside Energy (Australia). As a proposal writer I manage our RFP responses, including preparing budgets and proposals for government and enterprise contracts. We have won contracts from NASA, National Institute of Health, USDA, Government of Singapore, Duquesne Light Company, and more. I previously supported our investor and board relations by coordinating board meetings, preparing shareholder updates, and overseeing the employee stock option program. From December 2019 to January 2022, I was also the executive assistant to the CEO. Show less

Vice President Internal
-
May 2018 - Apr 2019
As Vice President Internal I was responsible for overseeing 4 departments, $500,000+ budget, 12 employees, and 34 board members. During my term I was able to implement a variety of new services for clubs and societies, including access to Adobe Creative Suite and 24-hour access to club storage. I also overhauled our free printing service to students, making the service more efficient and increasing access, resulting in a dramatic increase in usage. The increased usage of our free printing service brought in 1200 new students through our office doors. This was a focus for our team -- making the student union more accessible to students and increasing direct engagement with students. For this, we also developed a new social media strategy which increased our engagement on Instagram and Facebook. During a referendum that we held, our comprehensive marketing strategy resulted in 4500+ students voting in a paper ballot referendum, more than 4 times the number of students that voted in any previous paper ballot referendum. Due to my interest in sustainability, I also stepped in to lead various sustainability efforts, including collaborating with the University to expand composting access on campus, and running a comprehensive Sustainability Week campaign. With the Ontario governments' 'Students Choice Initiative' coming in during our term, another focus was reworking our funding structure and business to ensure our organization was financially sustainable, and lobbying various levels of government to advocate for access to education. As a trustee of the organization, I was responsible for working with CEO and CFO to ensure decisions regarding large-scale projects, budget commitments, and contracts and partnerships were informed and in the best interest of the organization. I also supported them on other large-scale projects by proactively recognizing gaps and areas in need of assistance, and taking the initiative to fill in those gaps. Show less

Wings Marketing Team Member
-
Oct 2015 - Feb 2018
The Wings Marketing Team is tasked with recognizing and executing field marketing opportunities across Northern Ontario in order to reach various consumer bases and demographic targets. While sharing brand and product knowledge with consumers, I also analyzed consumer interactions to collect data to influence the direction of future marketing strategies and opportunities. During large-scale events I assisted in event support, including utilizing local market knowledge to assist in the development of field marketing strategies and opportunities for Red Bull Crashed Ice in Ottawa. For other events and opportunities available to consumers, such as Red Bull Can You Make It and Red Bull Doodle Art I assisted in the promotion to local markets through social media and community-connections. Upon product launches, I approached existing accounts to introduce new products to both on and off premise locations to expand product purchasing in those venues and stores, as well as worked with locations to increase and improve visual promotional material. As the face of the brand to many consumers and sales accounts, effective communication with sales accounts and consumers to build on-the-ground 'hype' and interest about new products is essential to a successful product launch. Further supporting sales efforts, I recognized opportunities within my local market to establish new sales accounts and instigated those sale leads. Show less
