Business Development and Employability Manager
-
Jun 2022 - Present
Business Development and EmployabilityReporting to the Head of Business Development and Employability, we have pulled a "BEE" Team together, pooling our resources, experience and expertise to deliver the best levels of service to all our stakeholders. We operate across College subject disciplines, so industries benefit from the broad skills and expertise needed across sectors, without being limited and constrained by inwardly looking to a single College. Employability and Skills for the RegionMy remit includes skills development, regional based initiatives and Employability activities to continually lift our student outcomes, regional gaps and paying attention to those areas where attainment gaps are occurring. I look for opportunities for our students, better ways to engage them and make it easier for students to access experiences and tools to build on their employability, whilst ensuring our graduates are employable, using their applied learning in the context industries need. Research & Civic Commitment We have identified "Research Themes" for our Colleges. I engage with organisations to collaborate on R&D projects that widen access to expert knowledge and build transfer partnerships with industry knowledge and expertise. I meet and have discussions across stakeholders to negotiate, pull research and strategy from business intelligence. My role involves networking to connect with organisations and the civic community and also to connect them with each other. I also hold monthly networking events to share the university offer. A current project involves a platform for the research rigor that characterises the College of Art Humanities and Education programmes. We are dedicated to ensuring Arts students leave programmes with an “edge" - our students engage in this critical research and Graduates leave with these critical skills. As a result, students from the University of Derby gain skills in research, critical thought and analysis. Show less

Business Development Manager

Apr 2018 - Nov 2021
I have worked with clients (B2B and B2C) to support them with their professional development for well over ten years and joined University of Derby Online Learning (UDOL) because I find reward in working with clients to fulfill their career goals and with businesses to maximise their talent management. My role is to work with businesses to develop a cooperate offer and to share our expertise in teaching and practice, which has enabled the development of online courses validated by the same course development process in Higher Education (including short courses accredited by the CPDSO, The Professional Development Consortium Ltd) delivering courses with academic rigor. Organisations can now share in accessing our "gold standard" in learning and development as recognised by the Teaching Excellence Framework. This means you can get quality professional development solutions from creating a workforce development strategy to include CPD (continuous professional development, including free online courses) to develop your staff, positively impact your staff retention and recruitment offer, target skills gaps and for succession planning. I also work with our Apprenticeships Team to weave apprenticeships in within the context of the workplace (levy and non-levy specific), to form professional development solutions where this works for organisations to up skill and develop existing talent. If you are interested in finding out more about CPD and online courses and how they can benefit your talent management and organisation please feel free to get in touch with me through LinkedIn or directly.
