      In my current role as a Community Health Worker - AmeriCorps Apprentice, I am gaining hands-on experience in the public health workforce. I have been fortunate enough to have been placed in the division of Community & Behavioral Health because of my background. My focus is on substance use and overdose prevention within the City and County of Denver. I have had the opportunity to service residents of Denver by providing overdose prevention supplies such as Naloxone (Narcan) and Fentanyl testing strips at no charge. As I move forward in my apprenticeship, I learn more and more everyday of what the need is in Denver due to the opioid crisis.
