I work with the newly developed Agile Research Team under the Clinical Research Network as part of the National Institute of Health Research. My role as an assistant research practitioner allows me to work on new and existing studies to obtain consent, promote and market research studies in order to encourage recruitment and make people aware of new research studies. Current studies I am working on include that of primary care of Venus leg ulcers, a personalised app called Brain in Hand which allows those who live with Autism have a better way of communicating and encouraging their day to day activities, Active Brains which promotes the cognitive brain function of older people and allows them to maintain their brain activity. In Cornwall, Primary Care research is at its peak and I have developed a substantial amount of connections and interest from many primary care practices and obtained various studies for the Agile team. As a previous sales assistant my responsibilities were assisting customers with any need they have. I would deal with queries through the telephone and in direct contact with the customer. Working under strict time pressures in order to make specific seasonal changes. This involved unpacking, hanging and tagging new items of clothing and ensuring they were available and ready for release. I also moved into a managerial position as well as team coach. This meant I was in charge of guiding and managing a group of people in order to allow the store to run effectively and efficiently. my responsibly was to train all new members of staff to the best of my ability in all aspects of the store to ensure that they could work to the best of their ability. Another part of my responsibility as a manager was being a key holder to the store. This meant that I had access to opening and closing the store. This means that it was my responsibility to ensure all fire alarms were working, staff were continuously safe and the store was running appropriately. Also, it was my responsibility to perform mandatory health and safety checks by walking around the store to ensure all equipment was out safely and no equipment was lying on the floor. It was also my responsibility that it was reported appropriately and documented in order to perform an audit regularly to ensure we were keeping on top of our documentation. I also had the responsibility to perform administration duties such as removing and emptying the tills and banking the money. This included counting all the cash in the tills and inputting the information on a computer data system. Show less
