I was working as the Admissions Officer for Pengwern College; this is an Independent Specialist College for young adults with learning difficulties in North Wales. Dealing with all initial enquiries to the college from families and professionals. Giving advice and guidance to parents with regards to funding, benefits and admissions. Showing visitors around the college. Attending events and promoting the college to families and professionals. Handing application forms out to families and professionals, if I believe we are able to meet their needs. Entering information onto the in house databases. Sending letters out to the families Arranging and chairing admission panel meetings with senior managers. Arranging day and residential assessments for prospective students. Producing risk assessments and care plans for new students. Preparing and writing assessment reports to support funding applications. Calculating and applying for funding for all prospective and current students on a yearly basis. Working to extremely tight deadlines to apply for funding before the academic year. Feeding back to families if we are able to meet their son or daughters needs. Any queries regarding funding from Education Funding Agency or the Welsh Assembly Government. Once funding has been confirmed checking the amounts and liaising with our Business Finance Analyst. Working towards targets set for me with regards to student numbers, here is have doubled my target within a year I maintain records of student’s assessments, enrolment and acceptance of placements in line with the requirements of the individual learner record system. I am able to ensure management information service reports are produced for college purposes. Marketing the college through adverts, events and through social media. Working within the Magistrates, Judges and Legal Advisors Rota department here I: Compiled the rota for 360 Magistrates ensuring they received a varied type of work, also allocating the Legal Advisors into court Diarised all 5 resident Judges Requests for leave, course, meetings, appointments, prison visits. Allocated resident Judges to court sittings throughout Merseyside/Cheshire and arrange Deputy District Judges to cover absence. Arranged sittings for judges who sit at Crown Court. Submitted Deputy District Judge expense forms to Lord Chancellor’s office weekly Compiled rota for the youth court, also compiled the rota quarterly for the Criminal Justice Centre, and Magistrates to sit at the crown court Managed and organised Legal Advisors leave/course/meeting requests Prioritised my workload to ensure courts are adequately covered with appropriate personnel/Legal Advisor/Judges through an effective list distributed weekly I conducted face to face interviews yearly with each individual magistrate to establish future progress with regard to rota requirements Maintained the Justices Training and Appraisal database to assist the County Legal Training Manager with figures for the county’s annual report I liaised on a regular basis with the Bench Chairman over pastoral and Advisory matters and submitted a weekly report of figures Managed the magistrate’s assembly room morning and afternoon to inform magistrates and judges of their allocated court for that session.
