Believe in You Teens is an early intervention support service for children and teens, helping promote positive emotional wellbeing and Mental Health. We currently offer support to four schools across Sussex, and run private practice in the community, supporting families and teens with issues such as bereavement, loss/change, body positivity, anxiety, low mood and anger. We offer bespoke interventions, and have collaborated with organisations such as Active Sussex to integrate sport into promoting a positive sense of self. Our team come from a variety of backgrounds, but all have the universal aim to make a positive and lasting difference to young people, particularly at times where they may not immediately ask for help. We won Best Business 2018 at The More Radio Awards in Sussex, and pride ourselves in having a unique approach which has seen the company grow hugely over the past 6 years. Show less

The Glee Club Experience Lead - Voluntary
-
Jul 2009 - Jul 2019
The Glee Club Experience was a project we initially offered for 6 weeks, but ended up being so successful, it ran for 10 years. We used Musical Theatre and Games to offer young people with low self esteem a place to come and get involved, and mix with other young people who had difficult life stories. We won awards at The Hastings Youth Awards in 2015, 2016 and 2018 for the work we'd done supporting vulnerable young people. My Time Project Group Leader
-
May 2009 - Feb 2015
The My Time Project was funded by Comic Relief, and offered group support for young people aged 11-18 who had suffered a significant loss or change. The project was launched to help de-stigmatise Mental Health within young people, and offer support which was engaging and easily accessible. The group sessions offered a safe space to work through emotions, and were tailored to be age appropriate. Sessions were delivered within schools and community hubs and we offered an array of activities free of charge for young people to enjoy, all around improving emotional wellbeing. The project was successfully re-funded after 3 initial years of funding and made a huge impact to many young peoples lives in Hastings and the surrounding area. Show less

9th Grade Summer Camp Group Leader - NY, US
-
Jun 2013 - Sep 2013
I took a Summer Sabbatical in 2013 and worked at a Summer Camp on the outskirts of New York City. I was responsible for the 9th Grade Girls and a team of 12 staff camp counsellors. I oversaw the general wellbeing of the girls whilst they stayed for 8 weeks at a time with us, and ultimately ensured they had the funnest, most memorable Summer Camp experience! Child Bereavement Support Worker
-
Feb 2008 - Feb 2010
I volunteered for a year for the Dragonflies Bereavement Project in Hastings, working with children and families who had experienced a significant bereavement. Sessions were group led, and combined creative activities such as making memory jars, writing letters of loss and other activities to come to terms with this major life change. I particularly enjoyed working with the younger children, between the ages of 4-8, although support was offered to young people up to 18. I also oversaw the running of some of the parent groups which would run adjacently to the child groups, where peer support was offered to parents who had similarly lost a child/parent themselves.
