I was lucky enough to be assigned to mentor Natalia for the Fowler Business Challenge. The first time I met with her to discuss her business idea and how she could pitch it I was so impressed with the research she had done in advance. I learned so much from her in the first few minutes as she shared her idea. I asked questions about possible directions to dig deeper into her idea to be certain she would be ready. She was on top of it! Wow! Although it was no surprise to me, she made it through the first round of the challenge. We met again, and she had excellent questions and ideas as she prepared for her final pitch. I was so proud of her when she received the fourth prize out of the final 16. She is the one who did the work. She is the one with a great idea. I had fun walking along beside her. I would love to have more students like this who take the initiative to push ahead their innovative ideas and make a difference in this world.

In the time that Natalia was with us, I quickly learned how astute she is. Her ability to jump right in and navigate the organizational landscape was beyond impressive. Add to that her outgoing/can do attitude, which allowed her to build great relationships and gain the confidence of her coworkers throughout the agency.
