Thanks to the IAESTE organisation I had the opportunity to be a part of the Solid State Laboratory members in Tohoku University, under the supervision of Prof. Yuzuru Miyazaki. During this stay, I was working on synthesizing thermoelectric materials and estimating their thermoelectric properties by first principle calculations. As participant of IHRS BioSoft Programme, I had the chance to join an organic lab led by Prof. Annete Schmidt. I synthesized liquid crystal polymers and investigated their properties. The main purpose of this research was to use liquid crystal polymers to enhance the response of liquid crystals to external magnetic fields.
