Natanael Bruno is recommended for a merit award on the basis of the key role he has played in the Transport Safety Unit's activities since joining the Agency in 2004 and in particular in 2008. During the past year, he successfully carried out the duties of Acting Unit Head for three months and provided valuable assistance to the new Unit Head when he joined the Agency. Mr. Bruno has always been heavily involved in the review and development of transport safety standards, and has achieved a very high level of productivity in this field. A notable example of this in 2008 was the achievement of completing the review of the IAEA Transport Regulations in less than a year, thus enabling the updated provisions made in the Regulations to be forwarded to the UNECE for incorporation into the 16th Edition of the UN recommendations for the Transport of Dangerous Goods. This was the first time that the Agency was able to complete its review in time for the UNECE to include the revised provisions in their new Edition. This is a remarkable level of output and one that deserves recognition. Show less
