During my internship with the DRA, I was intrigued by the collaborative impact of NGO humanitarian consortia, prompting me to write my Master's thesis on the challenges and opportunities of organizational (collective) learning in consortia, through different dynamics at the field and strategic levels, gaps in bridging tacit and explicit knowledge, and balancing internal and external know-how to benefit from the comparative advantages that the strategic partners bring to the Joint Response mechanism. I gained valuable strategic and operational insights into the Dutch humanitarian and development landscape and had the space to shape research and learning activities. The various working groups and fast-paced environment prepared me to effectively multitask and prioritize. Among my research projects, I have drafted an insight paper on the operationalization of the triple nexus based on a desk study with a track record of resilience programming to serve as a starting point for organizational dialogue on ways forward. Similarly, I have drafted a learning roadmap for gender transformative programming and put together an insight paper on the building blocks of change while creating evidence on existing practices. I have advanced my understanding of challenges and opportunities in humanitarian innovation and worked closely with the Innovation Manager to embed a demand-driven approach to innovation in the DRA operational model while building on the evidence and resources from the DRA Innovation Fund Portfolio. I have consistently tried to better connect the different streams of work and colleagues, flagged linkages, and coordinated tasks while making steps in improving the alliance's knowledge management platforms. I was proactive in proposing quantitative and qualitative research projects to contribute to evidence-based decision-making, for example, in centralizing data to identify entry points for increasing the scale and impact of programs, Show less

The Student Association was more than a study-centered and representation fora; rather, a community of like-minded, resourceful, creative, and proactive people, committed to bringing about social change in their close environments. I have been inspired to take the initiative and constantly learn with ongoing training on project management, proposal, and report writing, crisis management, communication, lobby and advocacy, time and task management, human resources, NLP, or leadership for social change. From planning events with political leaders to embassy visits, I have contributed to organizing open debates to solve institutional challenges and bring the university community together. I had the opportunity to do hands-on project management with large volunteer teams, engage in mentorship programs, and get the support and resources to turn any idea into a community project: much creative space to brainstorm, plan and act while realizing the value of collaboration and teamwork paired with enthusiasm. In my short time with UN Youth Romania, I was engaged in volunteer coordination for multilateral conferences on themes such as the SDGs, disaster prevention, civil society, and youth participation in assistance, environmental refugees, and IDPs. I carried out desk studies to inform the planning and implementation of projects, and centralized findings. The organization was a model of professionalism that was inspiring to be part of. Although not particularly relevant to my field of study, working in the hospitality sector as part of my family's business for more than 8 years during school holidays has taught me as much as my other professional experiences, compensating for missed field-relevant summer schools or internships. My parents largely trusted me with tasks from logistics and operations to finance, HR, and management so I learned every detail of our business. I started to enjoy responsibility, and significantly improved my work ethic, discipline, and teamwork, encouraging me to see work as an extension of community, values, and passion. Show less
