      • Role: On my return to hmv, I was employed as Design Manager for hmv.com. It was a new role which was made of my previous role as front end web developer and that of the design lead. My key responsibility was to oversee all design work and front end code on hmv.com. I liaised with the stores display team on a weekly basis for upcoming campaigns and collected the relevant creative to brief into the design team, which would then be translated into the online specifications. I was also responsible for contact with our suppliers at companies such as Universal, Disney and Sony to make sure the relevant assets were available for use, and would get full sign off for these before going live. External meetings were a frequent requirement for this. I would also lead up creative meetings with the design team to brainstorm ideas for online only campaigns. All my duties from my past role as front end web developer were still part of my daily work as was working closely with the java developers. As design manager I was required to carry out usual managerial tasks with the team such as weekly meetings and objective setting/training schedules. I would also assist in the creation of graphics when the workload increased or when members of staff were on holiday. • Key Skills: CSS2 and CSS3, XHTML, HTML, HTML5, JS, JQUERY, JSP, CMS, usability and accessibility considerations, graphics creation and editing. • Software: Dreamweaver, Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop (CS4), RAD (Eclipse), SQL Server Management Studio 2008, GRT (In-house Graphics Request Tool), CM Tool (In-house Content Management System), Sublime Text 2, Filezilla. I was the sole web developer for the front end of the Anthropologie website, running on the Venda platform. I attended training days at the Venda HQ to learn their custom front end language. I was responsible for all areas of the front end, particularly the weekly changes to each category’s homepage. I was also responsible for the Flash content on the site and changing layouts. I worked mostly within the Venda content management system hand coding HTML and CSS, although I was required to change the Venda templates and upload via Filezilla weekly. There were also weekly emails that I coded. Show less

My position with hmv has evolved from Front End Developer to a more lead role with more back end knowledge. As the only front end developer within the company, my role is extremely varied but some of my main responsibilities include updating the weekly campaigns, front-end maintenance coding of the entire website and content management system, liaising with the graphics and content leads regarding changes for the current week, written suggestions for promotion on the site, covering the design lead in their absence and organising their team, organising and leading regular competitor overviews with content and graphics teams, front-end development of key areas of the site (i.e. navigation, product pages, home page), usability overviews and suggestions, accessibility reviews, jQuery enhancements to feature pages, maintenance of graphic request tool including database management, editing and coding of jsps, sole maintainer of all CSS on the site. : I was taken on for this role with the agreement of a very large learning curve as prior to this I had only had basic .NET training. My job here has involved – setting up local, staging and live websites for clients(this also involves creating the databases and IIS profiles), correcting code behind snagging from the website master model used for all sites, creating dynamic PDF's in Illustrator and Acrobat, take support calls and open tickets for bugs, editing flash movies and creating xml menu's. I am also responsible for around 700 feeds to property portals such as Rightmove, Prime Location etc. and help with all portal trouble shooting. I set these up and liaise with the portal companies when any problems arise. I also help clients with problems they have using our custom made CMS system. Show less

Job involves creation of websites from the basic discussion to design and building. I also work on brand development, including logo design and colour palettes. Working one on one with clients is involved, and I also do maintenance work on websites that are already live. Most recent designs were for the British Soft Drinks Association and Sight savers.
