I obtained a job as a lifeguard at my local leisure centre when I was just 16 and I still currently work there. This job has allowed me to develop many important skills including teamwork, adaptability and improving my own self-confidence. We work as a team of lifeguards which taught me valuable communication skills as well as the importance of being reliable. Each shift brings new challenges which come in a variety of forms from first aid incidents to children's parties to supervising deep water aqua. It has allowed me to learn how to interact with the public, something which I enjoy, and develop my interpersonal skills. Show less

During the summer after finishing GCSEs, I began working as a crew member at a McDonald's chain restaurant. This job taught me the important of being able to quickly learn new roles in order to be as flexible as possible so that I could help out where needed on the production line. This was my first experience of working within a kitchen as well as in customer service and so I learnt to become resilient in all of my work.
