  Groenten Zonder Grenzen (GZG – ‘Veggies without borders’) is an official organization that collects leftover food to cook free, healthy and sustainable meals. We aim to contribute to a general awareness of: Food waste – also at home and in daily living Healthy and sustainable eating – through delicious and creative vegan recipes The importance of social inclusion – welcoming everyone regardless of age, background or beliefs I am one of the eight instigators. Together we share the responsibility for running our organization. As kitchen coordinator I am in charge of all things cooking at GZG.   I used to sing and play keys/guitar in indierock band Jagd. The band professionalized since winning the Amsterdam Pop Prize 2016, and as of september 2017 I was unable to combine my work at the university with the band so I decided to quit my job and fully focus on our music. Between 2017 and 2020 Jagd played more than 150 shows in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. On our debut album ‘Talking to yourself to others’ The Revue wrote: “ Jagd‘s Talking to yourself to others, however, is more than just another record from a group wanting to be heard. On the contrary, it is a resounding, politically- and socially-charged output that is the megaphone for the powerless and disenfranchised. It is reminiscent of the propulsive music that once filled the airwaves in the early ’90s, and one that any alt-rock fanatic must hear. Check that, the LP should be heard by all those seeking to permanently change the foundations of what defines who we are.”

  SPIN aims to chart the cultural and historical root system of European nationalisms and to bring into focus those intellectual networks which carried and disseminated the emerging ideals of cultural nationalism in the Romantic period and in the long nineteenth century (1770-1914).The projects of this research hub include:- An encyclopedia on romantic nationalism- The visualization of exchange networks and how they evolve in space and time- Creating databases of historical paintings, banknotes, statues etc.- Making primary sources available on the internetMy job was to assist professor Joep Leerssen in these projects, for instance by processing metadata, organising workshops, writing, proofreading and editing articles, managing the office and the other employees. I have also assisted professor Leerssen with presenting and demonstrating our work at the London School of Economics (LSE) in April 2015 and at NWO Bessensap in June 2015.Furthermore I have coordinated two internships:- The translation (to English) of the 'Slovanský sjezd v Praze roku 1848'. (+/- 20 students)- The creation of an online database of statues in Europe (50 students)Our research has gone public as of june 2015 at www.romanticnationalism.net
