As a board member of Willamette Valley Community Health, I have had the privilege of knowing and working with Nancy over the past two years. Nancy is an exceptionally strong operator, with deep knowledge of the Oregon Health Plan and healthcare management in general. What I know and respect most about Nancy is that she rose to the executive ranks by working extremely hard, fostering relationships with key decision makers throughout Oregon, and taking no shortcuts. Her commitment to her organization and her people is at a level that I would characterize as uncommon, as is her in-depth understanding of the details of her company's clinical and administrative affairs. In addition to being an extremely knowledgeable leader, Nancy is a consummate professional and an exceptionally capable chief executive. In my experience I have found her to be calm and thoughtful, including during times of high stress. She is a precise and articulate communicator and possesses the confidence to reinforce what she knows is right. At the same time, I have found her to be a solid relationship builder and respectful of differing points of view; however, she is not one to wilt from a difficult conversation.
