Working with Namuma and the project she was leading was one of the highlights of my time working with South Africa. As a Human Rights lawyer, she is the definition of professionalism, blended with deep care for the beneficiaries of her office's efforts. I remember reading the newsletter of the Human Rights project every month and every single month being awed and inspired by their work. I remember meeting Namuma personally in Cape Town and noticing first hand her uncompromising dedication to her work and to her beneficiaries. I also remember the email exchanges we had at times: while we were not always in agreement, I always appreciated her frankness, and her openness to dialogue and to fair argumentation. I literally saw Namuma as a representation of the best her profession as a lawyer can offer. I deeply respect Namuma for her professionalism, her professional knowledge and dedication and her fiercely caring for those she serves. There should be more attorneys like her in the world and I cannot recommend her highly enough.
