-
Jun 2017 - Present
Part of a project to migrate Openpeople Payroll to a new hosting solution whilst performing an application upgrade. In addition to this a new implementation of Workday HR is also being rolled out. This has me testing configurations within Workday and various integrations between the 2 and other 3rd party vendor applications. This involves various stake holders across the business and ensuring that there is no detrimental impacts on existing business processes. This is all deployed over various platforms including The Cloud, Citrix and Windows enviroments.

9 years of experience in supporting OpenPeople Payroll Software package on various levels. Everything from user account setup, application usage to bug investigation and database querying. There are many challenges in payroll, keeping up with HMRC legislation changes has kept the cycle of learning an ongoing process. Always keeping that one step ahead of clients to help in assisting with their needs.Deadlines always have to be met, otherwise a whole company will grind to a halt when no one is paid. When a payroll of 5,000 employees is due to go out and there is an issue 30mins before payment deadline, fast thinking and experience takes over.In this role I've had experience of providing remote support to client machines and various Windows servers. Inclusive of Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and Server 2003, 2008, 2008R2 and 2012, Terminal Servers and Citrix. The remote access has been established using multiple connection methods such as Windows VPN, Citrix, Webex, GotoAssist, Screen Connect, Team Viewer, NOC, Cisco VPN, Microsoft Terminal Services etc.OpenPeople is written using Progress's Openedge 4GL language. Supporting this has required various skills that involve using CMD prompt, various environmental permissions, registry knowledge, database backup and restores, task scheduling, DB perfomance checks, network performance, VM tuning, scripting including DB table queries, ocxdll regsitration, etc. While far from an extensive list of what can be involved, it does highlight the broad range ot tools I've had to put to use.Application wise I started when the HMRC started to ramp up their drive to increase online reporting for payroll. This has led me to learn more about the intricatcies of payroll that users take for granted. The revenue has multiple levels of logic on what they want sent and when. I've had to learn this to then understand why an issue arose. Then where appropriate feed it back to the business for product bug
equest for change which has become key -
