I started working with Shashi when I joined Gorilla glass team, where Shashi was one of the founders of Gorilla glass product concept and initiated many of the initial customer technical engagements. . Specifically, I worked with him to introduce new product extensions and business model concepts that leveraged our substantial success in the coverglass business. His innovative approach to increasing market share in the burgeoning China market was a big part of our success in making adjustments to our business model and go-to-market strategies to establish a healthy market position. He is terrific mix of technical depth and curiosity, practical application of new learning, resourcefulness, resilience, and organizational agility. I would recommend any partner, supervisor, or investor put him on the most complex, difficult high-tech business problems.

Shashi and I worked very closely together as part of the core team that launched Corning Gorilla Glass in 2007. In the early years of Gorilla Glass, Shashi and I led commercial and technical customer facing efforts around the globe. We worked with major Brands, glass processors, touch panel makers and ODMs in support of the industry’s adoption of cover glass for devices that would feature projected capacitive touch technology. This was no easy task as the industry was mostly familiar with resistive touch, if touch was featured at all. Shashi was our key external technical window working with our applications engineering teams and especially our customers and their selected value chain members. Shashi used his extensive materials knowledge and effective communication skills to successfully interact with various disciplines across a multitude of customers and geographical regions. What I found most intriguing was that Shahi was able to effectively discuss complex subject matter to both technical and non technical counterparts even when English may have been a second or third language. Shashi will forever be a trusted friend and advisor and I would certainly welcome and recommend him on any team charged with launching a new product or communicating the enhancement of an existing one. Don’t hesitate to DM me for additional discussion regarding Shashi’s skills. Hollis

By 2010, Gorilla Glass was being used in most major mobile handset manufacturer worldwide. Here, I was promoted to lead business development initiatives as Gorilla Glass became its own division and problems became different. Specifically, this included building technology roadmaps and collaborative relationships; capitalizing on value proposition, product concept, and market opportunity; and enabling continued differentiation within the smartphone and other consumer electronics devices space. Some of my key successes and contributions included: ► Developing and executing strategy for doubling market share of Gorilla Glass use in China ► Increasing overall gross margin and bringing plant manufacturing utilization from 30% to 90% in less than 6 months.
