I joined British Canoeing In 2010 and started in the membership team. As a members organisation this is a key role. I dealt with club affiliation maintaining records for over 400 clubs, updating committee details, logging club members and liaising with all clubs discussing their needs from waterway licenses, taking payments and issuing liability certificates once affiliated. I would also direct the clubs to colleagues within the organisation who can help promote and support their club as it developed and grew.In addition to this was the individual membership for all our members, again this involved liaising with our members on a daily basis dealing with calls, mail, emails and taking payment. Once payment had been received membership packs needed to be issued this included membership cards, that was their license to paddle on the waterways.Working on the in-house database involved, adding, editing and maintaining all of the records.I organise and prioritise my work load, and sometime l have to liaise with other members of staff to provide documents.• Phone calls within my duties may need prioritising due to the nature of the call.• Dealing with our members I take payment from them on a daily basis this can be taken using various methods, Sage pay, cheques, cash or providing our bank details on request in order for them to complete a BACS transfer.• Dealing with all of the English coaches and making sure their qualifications are all up to date. This ensures that can carry out their coaching duties in line with the ‘best code of practice'• I am confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.• I Make sure I have enough stock to complete my work and order in advance knowing the timescale of deliveries.• I help other teams with calls, queries and workload when required.Due to this being a key role my knowledge of the sport grew and I then had the opportunity to progress within the organisation.
