An obsolescence remediation project, delivered using SAFe® methodology, provided the client an opportunity to use an enhanced common system architecture and better-integrate with deployed UK assets and international partners. The new virtualised solution comprised of virtualised VMWare infrastructure, centralised NETAPP compute & storage and COTS & specialist software applications. The solution also included a new cross-domain guard and deployment of ArcGIS Enterprise Portal in partnership with Esri UK. I provided design governance and managed several work packages including system integration, application deployment and system acceptance testing. I also work with Business Owners and security stakeholders, I developed a strategy, roadmap and Solution Vision to resolve the Enterprise’s obsolescence backlog. The Solution Vision breaks down and visualises the complex IT estate and presents a prioritised view of the remaining obsolescence challenges. Mitigation recommendations are aligned to the 6 “R's” of Application Migration Strategy: Re-host, Re-platform, Re-architect, Re-purchase, Retire, Retain. The goal is to develop these mitigations as epics and features on the Program Backlog, to be delivered by the Agile Release Train (ART).

£40M project delivering an improved Aeronautical Information Capability (AIC), working in partnership with CGI, QinetiQ and KPMG.As the Lead Systems Architect, I implementation a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach and MOD Architecture Framework (MODAF) to define the functional system taxonomy, business processes, user stories, and the “As-Is” legacy and “To-Be” target logical and physical architecture. These were used to depict the complex viewpoints of the target system’s functions, tools and applications to a wide stakeholder community.

Graduate Systems Engineer

Sep 2014 - Aug 2017
On the KC-46 Wing Air Refuelling Pod (WARP) Type Aircraft Certification Programme, I worked directly with Cobham, Boeing and several European suppliers. My role involved addressing issues against part & assembly drawings and test procedures, writing Request for Deviation documentation and presenting technical evidence to Change Review Boards.I supported the introduction of the “Defence Authority for Technical and Quality Assurance” across the MOD and the associated JSP 901: “Defence Policy for the Technical & Quality Assurance”, where I developed case studies to validate real-life examples of common technical risks within Defence. Working on a national mission-critical programme, I was responsible for collating mission critical user requirements and elaborating them into low-level system requirements for various capabilities. I collaborated with trusted suppliers to develop concept demonstrators and conduct validation & verification analysis of the initial POC capability against these requirements, through both in-house and field system acceptance testing.

Systems Engineering Placement
-
Jun 2010 - Sep 2013
While studying at the University of Bristol, I completed four summer placements at Leonardo (then SELEX Galileo, Selex ES) across Systems Engineering and Project Management. During my final placement, I was responsible for developing the System Requirements Document (SRD) for a new integrated threat detection system and designing the detailed operational scenarios for trials testing. I also composed a white paper on the application of audio cues in military defence systems.
