Research project as part of the IBIS project: Ecological impacts of the spread of non-native oysters and interactions with native oystersSupervisors: Dr Nessa O’Connor, Prof Mark Emmerson, Dr Dai Roberts• Extensive surveys across Ireland to monitor and quantify the spread of the non-native oyster and linking successful spatfall events to environmental factors• Long term field experiments to determine the effect of the non-native oysters on the native oysters, employing techniques such as SCUBA, photo analysis and stable isotope analysis.• Long term field experiments to estimate the effect of the non-native oyster on ecosystem functioning (nutrient cycling) and biodiversity.• Laboratory based experiments to estimate differences in filtration rates between the native and the non-native oyster
