The Fire Commissioner of Canada was responsible for establishing, administering and enforcing fire protection/life safety requirements for Government of Canada real property to minimize associated risks while conserving the Government's financial position. The department functioned in the capacity of the Authority Having Jurisdiction on behalf of Treasury Board for Government department and agencies for both owned and leased space applications.● Led design teams, associated administration, the review/approval of building design drawing submissions and the development of alternative solutions to ensure fire protection compliance and promote life safety in building construction and enhancement projects across BC., AB, YT, NWT and NU; ● Acted as the technical AHJ liaison between the Government of Canada and provincial and municipal authorities;● Conducted field reviews throughout the region at all phases of building life cycles (conception to occupancy) in both urban and remote settings;● Developed extensive experience with review and inspection of public First Nation buildings in work environments that demanded cultural sensitivity;● Provided technical advice and presentations to Federal Labour Affairs Officers, Federal Fire inspectors and client department representatives and stakeholders.● Served as the NWPR Technical Committee representative for National Headquarters (NHQ) Policy Development Group in Ottawa; ● As Acting Manager of the regional FPS office, oversaw 5 engineers, 5 inspectors and 2 Admin staff.PROJECTS: ► New building construction ► Tenant improvements ► Building surveys and prelease inspections occupied by Federal employees for a wide variety of client departments (i.e. Public Works and Government Service Canada, Corrections Canada, RCMP, Canada Border Services, Canada Revenue Services, Department of Fisheries, etc.).► First Nation buildings including schools and community centers_____________________________________
