I highly recommend Muveno Mucaza for a position in engineering or analysis. Muveno recently completed his master’s degree under my supervision, and as a graduate student, he did excellent work on a project involving simulating stratified fluid flows using the open source CFD (computational fluid dynamics) code Gerris. He quickly learned to write simulation setup files without a GUI and troubleshoot errors in the setup. He gained experience writing Matlab scripts to load, plot, and analyze the simulation output, demonstrating independence in analyzing and interpreting data. He gained experience with the commercial CFD code Fluent, allowing him to compare the features, models, and performance of the different codes. During his master’s, he also worked as a teaching assistant for several different courses; in these positions, he did an excellent job presenting solutions and clearly explaining concepts to students, distinguishing himself as one of the best TAs with whom I have worked. During his master’s degree, Muveno has demonstrated excellent analysis abilities and independence, and he has been a pleasure to supervise; I highly recommend him for an engineering or analysis position.
