Matt worked at Ostmodern as a contractor for a short-term project. Even if we never worked together before, and considering the remote situation, working with him was great. He's a talented backend developer that makes the Frontend Devs life very easy. Matt has exceptional communication skills, team, and client-wise.

Matt was one of the YLD contractors in our team, but the dedication and the efforts he put was way beyond that. He truly took ownership of the system and the codebase. Always looking forward to help the team becoming more productive and efficient. What he brought to our team was incredibly valuable. Not to mention we really enjoy working with him.

As the first technical hand at Jennis, I built the React Native application delivering for both iOS and Android. This made full use of Google's Firebase application development toolkit. I also wrote the first version of the cycle mapping algorithm making extensive use of Google Cloud Platform (pubsub/VMs/Docker) for overnight and on-the-fly processing of our user's cycles. Integrated with Mux for video streaming, RevenueCat for subscription management, Segment for customer data, Contentful for all the presentation layers, and many more. Show less

Most recently I’ve been writing a GraphQL layer for Comcast’s customer service team. I rolled an Apollo server to collate their various REST-based APIs exposing a modern GraphQL layer to allow the front end React team to excel. This involved architecture, engineering & rollout of authentication and caching strategies. Most recently I’ve been writing a GraphQL layer for Comcast’s customer service team. I architected and delivered low latency, high availability micro-services for DAZN.com written in Javascript and deployed using a plethora of AWS technologies where appropriate. During big events, our services needed to handle millions of transactions connecting to third-party services like Adyen, PayPal, and Zuora. I had a particularly strong hand in designing the payment workflows ensuring we captured and tracked funds against a user's subscription. Many of the third parties we integrated with could not handle the traffic generated by live events so another big part of the job was using SQS and StepFunctions to throttle and drip feed third parties asynchronously as not to overwhelm downstream systems. The role involved liaising with many teams and business stakeholders along with helping to bring new hires up to speed and ensuring best practices. Show less
