Capacity Building and supporting of targeted beneficiaries in Business Plan Development using RURALINVEST Developed by FAO, Task activities were: • Assisting farmers in preparation of business plan and develop marketing linkages for their planted crops. • Supporting farmers on calculation of production costs, commerce agriculture, marketing innovation and value addition. • In collaboration with SAIP Rural Finance Specialist and other relevant SAIP staff will review the grant applications package obtained from the applicants for adequacy, completeness, and compliance with SAIP grant procedures, process and eligibility • Engaging with local financial institutions (banks and MFI’s) and other private sector organizations (who are interested in establishing formal/contractual relationships with cooperatives and enhance relationships between them and farmers in order to facilitate access to finance in case of loan as part of beneficiaries’ contribution) • Supporting promoters in case they need a bank loan to provide their matching grant or other financing needs to fulfill the banks ‘requirements in order to access the loans • Overseeing proposal development process in collaboration with SAIP for eligible applicants that are able to submit their projects for grant financing; SAIP Grant Approval Committee will analyze and approve the developed business plans and also do monitoring of the approved projects which are under the implementation, • Business plans to be developed will follow a value chain approach, and will target both irrigation and rainfed areas. The Capacity building will be provided to beneficiaries to understand the best or optimal inputs to consider in their projects (Inputs needed, labor cost, irrigation equipment, mechanization services, etc.). During that assignment, about 11 business plans in agriculture value chains were well developed, fine-tuned, and submitted to SAIP grant approval. with all required supporting documents. Show less
