Before joining West Virginia State University (WVSU) Raphael M Mutepa obtained a BA in Education from Institut Superieur Pedagogique de Bukavu, DRC, and then graduated from the Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio with a Masters of Counseling. Between 1997 and 2002 he attended the Virginia Commonwealth University of Richmond in Virginia where he studied Social Work and its connection to HIV/AIDS as well as the human environment in which it occurs. Dr. Mutepa defended his doctoral thesis titled "A Constructivist Inquiry into the Meaning of Pregnancy for African American Women Infected with HIV," and graduated with a PhD in Social Work in December 2003. Dr. Mutepa joined the Department of Social Work at the West Virginia State University in 2003 as an assistant Professor. Show less
