Attached in the Disaster Risk Management course - Preparedness and Resilience Societies to Natural Disaster held at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan on 2018. Experience and sharing of disaster risk reduction (DRR) implementation in Japan throughout the course has led to the establishment of the committee and the course for Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in the MCDF (for the vulnerable and disaster-prone community) and the successful publication of a book 'Civil Defence Emergency Response Team (CDERT) Management Guide' as a basis guideline for developing resilient and preparedness community. Besides, my experience during Op Daulat 2013 - the case of the 2013 Lahad Datu incursion in the Civil Protection; Op Kinabalu 2015 - Magnitude 6.0 Kundasang, Ranau, Sabah Earthquake in the phase of Response and Recovery; and involved in other incidents as well. Currently, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has agreed to implement the initiative of DRR by developing a curriculum of Civil Defence to equip students in the country with basic knowledge of civil defence, crisis or emergency or disaster preparedness, and community-based disaster risk management. This is to ensure that the initiative continues in line with the Malaysia Education Blueprint (PPPM) 2013-2025 as well as the National Education Policy 2017 in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) recommendations for the sustainability of education through public awareness and priority 1 - understanding risk disaster in the Sendai Framework of Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR 2015-2030); and Goals 3 - Good Health and Well-being and Goals 4 - Quality Education by Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2016-2030) as has been set out by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
