    • Researcher - Drug Discovery
      • Aug 2018 - Jul 2019

      • Worked in a collaboration with research and industry based labs (LabCTS, The Centre for Drug Design and Discovery (CD3) and SANOFI) for the discovery of new pharmaceutical compounds for heart failure.• Designed and optimised biochemical and biophysical assays for use in HTS.• Protein Purification and Quality Control.• Gained first-hand exposure to drug discovery and lead identification.• Assisted in other research projects in the lab.

    • Master Thesis Research
      • Aug 2017 - Jul 2018

      • Initiated a pilot study into the function of an un-explored protein implicated in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension and Pancreatic cancer. • Performed and optimized a wide range of experimental protocols and assays spanning the fields of biochemistry and cellular biology.• Planned and executed screenings of potential ligands using advanced laboratory techniques such as toxicity/viability screenings, biochemical ATPase assays, transfections, mammalian and bacterial cell culturing.• Obtained outstanding results which established a new collaboration between LabCTS and the Lab of Prof. Dr. Nick Morrell - Cambridge University. • Awarded an exceptional grade (17/20) after presenting and defending my work in front of a specialized jury which led to a Cum Laude distinction.

    • Intern
      • Oct 2016 - May 2017

      1. Lab of Endothelial Cell Biology (Dep. of Cardiovascular Sciences), 2. Biomaterials – BIOMAT (Dep. of Oral Health Sciences), 3. Lab of Cellular Transport Systems (Dep. of Cellular and Molecular Medicine)• Gained experience in a spectrum of biomedical and biochemical fields and learnt to adapt to new research environments.• Shadowed Post-Docs, PhDs and lab technicians to learn advanced laboratory skills such us microscopy, Immunohistochemical stainings, LCMS analysis and toxicity screenings. • My internships all culminated in individual scientific reports and statistical analyses.

    • Bachelor Thesis Research
      • Feb 2016 - Jun 2016

      • Bachelor thesis research where I worked on synthesising and testing biocidal coatings for medical implants to prevent biofilm formation which cause capsular contraction. • Strong focus on organic synthesis, analytical chemistry and molecular biology.

    • Research Project Leader
      • Jan 2016 - Feb 2016

      • Designed and proposed my own research project which I budgeted for and pitched to professors for approval before a grander pitch to recruit students.• Led, supervised and supported a team of seven students, overseeing progress and delegating tasks.• Organised the ordering and maintenance of all the supplies and materials.• Designed, executed and optimized my own SOPs and protocols. • The research culminated in a written report and was defended in front of a jury.

    • Undergraduate Student Researcher
      • Sep 2013 - Feb 2016

I have worked on projects such as:• Synthesising organic macromolecules such as calixarenes with a biomedical application in mind. • Synthesising polymeric films and blending different types of Polyhydroxyalkanoates with the aim of finding the optimal chemical compositions in order to make a biodegradable polymer suitable for trash bags. • Took part in a research project using mechanical and chemical analysis of structural properties of climbing holds made from Polyurethane. Used 3D printers to print and test prototypes made from PolyLactic Acid.
