My passion project is supporting people in navigating career transitions and building their dream careers. This journey started when I qualified as a GCDF career consultant back in the autumn of 2018. Through individual sessions, I empower students and young people to increase their self-awareness, get clarity on their goals and priorities, and launch their career path. I also support working professionals in making career transitions, improving their personal branding, creating effective CVs and acing job interviews. Show less

Talent & Recruitment Lead
-
Oct 2021 - Apr 2022
Driven by my interest in matching people with their ideal careers and developing their talents, I joined an ambitious international female health startup as their first HR hire. My main responsibility is leading the end-to-end recruitment process from advertising openings and sourcing talent proactively to making an offer and onboarding new team members. This role requires excellent project management skills, as I single-handedly coordinate hiring for up to 15 roles across 6 company departments, based in 3 geographies (Bulgaria, UK, USA). On the talent management front, within my first 3 months in the company, I rolled out a new monthly performance review process, introduced a framework for assessing employee NPS, and updated our Staff Handbook and job specs. Currently working on revamping our onboarding process, defining a new career development and progression framework and building a strong and differentiated employer brand. Show less

The HR consulting company Prometriks hired me to lead the development of a new career platform for students and young people, based on psychometric assessments. As a team of one, I built NEXTSTEP from scratch, owning digital product development, brand identity and marketing strategy and execution. My hugely varied role proved to be the most challenging, yet most fulfilling work I’ve done so far. I got to manage all aspects of the project, while learning everything on the go. - Designed 2 coaching programs and created feedback reports for 18 self-assessment career tests. - Led virtual and in-person career events and workshops for audiences ranging from high school students and recent graduates, to parents and education professionals. - Established partnerships with corporate businesses, NGOs and educational institutions. - Built the website and set up our online presence, attracting a total of 4500+ social media followers. - Produced 100+ resources for career development, including graphic design and copywriting. - Grew the brand organically, reaching 1st position in Google search results and securing appearances in 20+ digital and traditional media, including BNR, BulgariaOnAir and Bloomberg. - Organised the career conference Future Makers 2020, a series of virtual career events attended by 1200+ young people. At this point I had just relocated back home in Bulgaria, which was a big personal turning point. Within my first week here I started teaching English to three groups of children aged 6-12, and a group of adults in a corporate setting. This experience significantly improved presentation skills and made me much better at structuring and organising information, and tailoring my communication to different audiences. Fresh out of university, I started my first full-time position at a London primary academy. Apart from classroom management and resource creation, I taught phonics and yoga to groups of up to 15 children, identified pupils’ individual learning needs, designed and delivered one-to-one and small-group interventions. My main takeaways that have stayed with me far beyond my classroom days are the ability to multitask, act on my feet and stay calm under pressure. For work placement number two I wanted to explore psychological counselling. And what better place to do savour that, than joining the world's largest victim-focussed charity? Here I delivered face-to-face emotional and practical support to over 100 adults and children affected by crime, domestic and sexual violence. Seriously stepped up my organisational and time management skills - working 3 days a week, I managed a caseload of up to 20 people at a time, including at-home visits all across West London. But more importantly, I learned to communicate with an incredibly diverse set of people, ranging from 6 to 92 years old and coming from numerous ethnicities and backgrounds. My stay in the organisation extended beyond my work placement and spanned across several different roles. To this day, this remains the most influential experience I’ve had in terms of connecting with others and getting insight into the human condition. Show less

At the same time I was also curious to try working with people with special needs. This is how I found a part-time job with a local family. After finishing my day at the kindergarten, I would hop on my bike and go spend a few hours with a sweet 17-year-old boy on the autistic spectrum. To support his social and physical development, we played games and did activities designed to improve his social, fine and gross motor skills. In my first year as a Psychology student I saw myself going for a career in education, so I started right where education starts - in a kindergarten. Definitely the most fun I’ve had while working. But I also got to put my uni lectures into practice, as I delivered social skills and attention span workshops to targeted at-risk children, recorded observations of children’s behaviour and learning into their individual profiles, and provided extra social stimulation to children whose first language is not English.
