I had the distinct pleasure of working with Michael as part of the Johnson Controls Leadership Edge Instructional Design team. From day one, Michael exhibited a style of leadership, passion, and integrity that is contagious to those around him. His willingness to start with Why and think beyond the present allowed us to maximize our resources throughout the life cycle of project. I would undoubtedly recommend working with The Guy Behind the Guy to anyone looking to bring their program or project to the next level.

Michael worked with us as a senior designer/consultant supporting one of our flagship mid-level leadership high potential programs. After 7 years of running the program, we were in the process of going through a program enhancement. We were extremely fortunate to have him on the team. He brought a tenacity and high standard of excellence in the area of program design and facilitation. He challenged the current approach and quickly worked across the enterprise to gain buy-in with our regional leadership teams. Without his energy, creativity and 'can-do' attitude, we would never have launched the program. His fun, easy going style engages others. He's a natural coach and helps everyone elevate their game. Our participants and sponsors were delighted with the results and continue to use the 'playbook' for current programming. I highly recommend Michael to anyone interested in an exceptional professional who has a high degree of integrity, relentless passion and flat-out talent for leadership program development!

Recently I was fortunate enough to participate in Michael's 2 hour S.M.A.R.T. goals workshop. He wasted no time and was clearly with in his element, delivering a very interactive presentation. He demonstrated deep commitment and ownership as he made a connection with each of us to ensure every person was getting the most out of it. Thanks to Michael, I gained a beneficial, new insight in separating goal and action plan items! Through his workshop, Michael helped me to understand methods of challenging my goals and actions plan for effectiveness. Thank you!

Managed and led the re-design of Johnson Controls Leadership Edge (JCLE) – the organization's signature action learning program targeting high-potential leaders. • Established core program objectives, driving the design towards the 3 behaviors needed in the next generation of executive leadership: think and behave in innovative ways, focus on and enhance strengths to succeed, and overcome obstacles using personal internal motivations. • To ensure consistency for 140 leaders across 4 global regions (North America, South America, Europe, Asia), aligned learning modules in fixed-flexible model and trained local facilitation teams. • Elevated program focus from "management success skills" to "skills needed for transition" – a critical need for high-potential talent. JCLE curriculum focused on making strategic decisions, driving accountability, collaborating across boundaries, and demonstrating emotional maturity. • Utilized the learning modality best suited to the development need: targeted learning modules taught executive leadership skills; formal coaching and informal feedback enhanced personal development planning; the action learning project improved collaborative problem solving abilities; and enterprise networking and senior leader panels gave insight into how action aligns with strategy. • Anchored the organization's Innovation Thinking model in the first phase of program, with project teams applying it as their creative problem-solving methodology throughout the program. • Validated the otherwise theoretical work of action learning teams by imposing design constraints on their solutions: as a result, each of 17 teams delivered a feasible, viable, desirable solution to a real business problem, and pitched their product/service to decision makers for implementation. • Implemented a blended learning approach to maximize development impact over 6 months, leveraging graduate-level coursework and engaging university faculty via a virtual learning platform.
