Bio
Benoît des Ligneris
I first had the pleasure of working with Michal when he was a data scientist. We worked hard to discover why an A/B experiment did not work as expected and caused several thousands of dollars of hourly loss! Stakes were high, and I was impressed by his grit, tenacity and ability to deep-dive to understand. We had to cross multiple business areas, team boundaries and data sources! Nevertheless, he worked with the team to find the why and establish causality. We then corrected our assumptions to ship a significant improvement for Shopify's checkout, which is still in production today. Based on this experiment and as a personal choice, Michal embraced the product career. I was privileged to lead his transition from a data scientist to an Apprentice Product Manager. He rapidly gets promoted to Product Manager. Together with the cross-functional product team, we had a blast tackling challenging problems, discovering our users' needs and finding creative ways to ship value iteratively. Michal's strengths are his data literacy and technical background. He can easily understand and analyze complex data sets, synthesize them, answer lots of the team's questions with data, set goals, and monitor the outcome. I've seen him grow as a PM. His curiosity and ability to adapt and scale is top-notch. He can rally a team across a shared goal and keep the group engaged and motivated until the team learn something new or achieve the goal.
