  RAG is the student driven fundraising organisation for the University of Johannesburg. In May 2007, I was selected as the first RAG Chairperson of colour in 37 years. My tasks included drawing up sponsorship proposals, approaching and liaising with sponsors, negotiating contracts, maintaining sponsor relations, and communicating with University management structures. The greatest learning was receiving feedback on how to effectively communicate requests in writing, as well as understanding how to pitch to different audiences.
