The vision of HBMSU – the first accredited smart learning university in the Arab world – is to lead learning innovation for the advancement of individuals, organizations, and society while re-engineering the future of education.Serving in executive capacities since 2013, I have worked on a number of initiatives to strengthen the university’s presence not only in the region, but globally as well.My most recent duties have included developing plans to expand offerings – and specifically online programs – to foster collaboration with other higher education institutions, and to drive engagement for fruitful collaborations. For example, I laid the groundwork to secure partnerships with Alexandria University, Saudi Electronic University, and Joint Commission International. Each year the university has hosted the Innovation Arabia Conference for which I served as the chair for 3 years. The conference provides a platform to consider and address the challenges faced by universities, businesses, and government agencies to integrate technology and drive innovation, rather than simply respond to it.Other initiatives I am leading include:• Working with partner universities to provide seamless experiences for learners.• Coordinating regional accreditation of HBMSU programs.• Defining strategic paths to help faculty members transition from traditional classrooms to digital learning environments.• Guiding the efforts of a multi-disciplinary team to revamp the university’s business model.• Identifying and capturing revenue-producing opportunities by transforming the institution’s digital content production capability.• Seeking opportunities to generate revenue for the university; for example, I directed the development of professional education programs for federal, local, and private organizations.

    • Vice Chancellor | Provost ► Academic Affairs | Operational & Strategic Leadership
      • 2013 - 2018

Leading HBMSU’s academic division, I oversaw the School of Business and Quality Management, the School of Health and Environmental Studies, and the School of e-Education, as well as the operations for Research and Doctoral Studies, General Education, Quality and Accreditation, Learning Innovations and Strategies Center, and e-Content Factory. To strengthen the university’s operations, I led the accreditation process for 21 programs, from the undergraduate to the doctoral levels, directed the implementation of innovative technologies and methodologies to enrich the online learning experience, and worked across functional areas to formulate annual and long-term plans with well-defined KPIs.Strategically, I collaborated to drive revenue through short courses, smart learning initiatives, research grants, joint programs, and partnerships with local agencies. I also leveraged data to optimize the number of learners per course and to decrease the independent study courses.Always looking to improve the student experience, I implemented smart advising tools, spearheaded student engagement initiatives, enabled student participation in social learning, and strengthened the life-long learning model. Some wins I helped HBMSU garner include:• The first dual-degree program with the University of Catalonia.• UAE’s first accredited fully online program.• 1st Place in the Regional Award – Middle East category and 2nd Place in the ICT Support and Service Award category of the prestigious Wharton-QS Starts Awards (2015).In addition, I directed the planning and launch of the Certified Online Educator program to provide educators with the latest techno-pedagogical skills and knowledge for success in online/smart learning environments.SPECIALTIESFaculty Development | Blended Learning | Student Experience | e-Learning | Accreditation | Online Education | Operational Leadership | Vision & Mission | KPIs | Revenue Growth | Student Recruitment | Learning Technology

After nearly a decade of service at King Faisal University and Alexandria University, I wanted to pursue my interest in cultivating robust online academic programs, and joining the faculty of HBMSU was a natural fit for me.Leading the School of Health and Environmental Studies – while also teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in healthcare quality management, hospital management, public health, and health information management – I worked to:• Develop industry partnerships• Recruit, develop, and retain high quality faculty and adjunct faculty, and • Increase enrollment. As a result of these efforts, I helped expand the school’s offerings from 1 to 5 programs. In addition, all of these program – 3 post-graduate and 2 undergraduate – were accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education. An important aspect of the expanded program offerings was the intentional integration of blended learning – the online component was included throughout the curriculum development process.Representing the university across the region, I chaired the 4th Annual Conference of e-Health and Environment, supported marketing campaigns and educational fairs, and partnered with the Student Development Department to increase student engagement and retention. In addition, I established revenue-generating professional development programs for federal, local, and private organizations, fulfilling a key goal of the university’s life-long learning model.
