Mike was engaged to carry out a detailed governance review of the RPS, following a comprehensive procurement exercise. This was a complex assignment, involving multiple stakeholders and dealing with a range of existing governance documents. The standard of work, not to mention achieving some challenging deadlines, was top class, with Mike producing a report which picked up 'best practice' from comparable member organisations as well as making a comprehensive series of recommendations for improvement. Mike also continued to offer support through subsequent stakeholder engagement by the Trustees, ultimately producing a new set of By-Laws in a state that only required a 'light touch' by the charity lawyers. I would whole heartedly recommend Mike for any future assignments.

It is very rare to come across a consultant who is as diligent and knowledgeable as Mike. His academic credentials, his professional background, and his personal experience of the Royal Photographic Society, all contributed to him being streets ahead of the competition when we were scoping for a consultant to undertake a root and branch review of our model of governance. He began with a practical and evidence-based review of our existing model of governance, and then made a series of carefully crafted and well-argued proposals for incorporation into a new model. He was creative in his response to the brief and at all times sensitive to the heritage of our organisation and the personalities who have been and remain central to our present and future success. I had the pleasure of working with Mike in his capacity is Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Photographic Society and, when his contract came to an end, my colleagues and I had no hesitation in appointing him to undertake this consultancy project. As a team leader to deliver, from within, positive change for an organisation, or as an external consultant to work with the Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team, Mike earns my highest recommendation. If an organisation in the third sector is looking to achieve real change and a positive direction for future success, Mike should certainly be on your shortlist of consultants.
