I was working as a Professional in Training at Kumba Iron Ore’s operation in the Northern Cape, Kolomela Mine.I was a Site Champion for DEEMS (Diesel Energy Efficiency Management) at Kolomela Mine. Responsibilities involved working closely with ECS (Energy and Combustion Services), The Mining Department and other relevant stakeholders to achieve the required haulage productivity improvements and diesel savings at the mine. In the implementation stages the role was centered on relevant data acquisition. I was managed the Kolomela Mine and Contractor data acquisition platforms.I worked as a project manager for the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Department at Kolomela Mine. Responsibilities in this role were to manage projects from start to finish, that ranged from Water Softeners for Kolomela houses to working to establish a Lifting Machinery Inspection Department at Kolomela. I worked with the Asset Engineer (2.13.3.1 appointee) responsible for the shaft and a portion of the underground section for part of my time in Rustenburg. I worked on power factor correction as part of my training including the cost savings of power factor correction, the effects of reactive power, ways to correct the power factor. This work at the shaft included and supplemented the theoretical and practical work on harmonic filtering done in the process of obtaining my electrical engineering degree. I also worked on maintenance of the power factor correction units.Other areas of work and signing off my Annexure E included:• Winding Plants• Lifting Equipment• Lifts (Elevators)• Chairlifts • Compressors• Drills• Environmental Engineering• Material/Ore Handling Equipment• Fluid Handling• Electrical (reticulation, protection and cost analysis)• Ore Plant • Steam Generating
