My thesis focuses on the identification of new peripheral biomarkers in Alzheimer's disease (AD). One part of my work is to evaluate a blood-based redox-signature and their association to the cognitive scores in MCI and Alzheimer’s disease patients. (paper in Free radical Biologye and Medicine 2018). The second aim of my work is to identify a profile of AD related proteins in circulating extracellular vesicles in mild cognitive impairments and Alzheimer’s disease patients. Finally, I have also a side project focused on the evaluation of neuroprotective role of a protein in AD mice model (intracerebral injection of streptozotocin).

Armand-Frappier Congress is biology meeting every two years and represents the largest biology congress organized by students in Quebec. Each event, more than 200 participants are expected to attend the conference. It is a good opportinity for student (master and phD) and post-doctoral to present their results (talks and posters). I was the secretary fo the 10th edition (9-11th November in Orford, Quebec). My main roles were to : manage the mail box, manage registration (event, hotel), write grant applications, organize meetings, write meeting reports and participate fundraising events.

    • Trainee in Research and Development - Development of fragile skin model for sreening
      • Feb 2013 - Aug 2013

My main project was to develop and characterize a new model of fragile skin with three-dimensional model (skin tissue engineering). Barrier impairment was induced by SDS treatment. The second aim was to evaluate the efficacy of natural substances to protect fragile skins. Skills : Transepithelial electrical resistance, three-dimensional models, biochemical assays (LUMIEX, HTRF, ELISA), molecular biology (RNA extraction, RT-qPCR, TaqMan Arrays), Histology (section, embedded in paraffin, immunolabelling).

My project was to evaluate the neuroprotective and antioxidant roles of crucumin in neuronal model (SK-N-SH). I measured the viability, the mortality, the reactive oxygen species and some proteins involved in antioxidant pathways. Skills : Western-blot, viability and mortality tests, cell culture, biochemical assays. Paper : Doggui, S., Belkacemi, A., Djiokeng Paka, G., Perrotte, M., Ramassamy, C., Curcumin protects neuronal like cells against acrolein by restoring Akt and redox signaling pathways, Molecular Nutrition & Food Research, 2013
