I regularly provide handyman and gardening services to senior citizens in the community during the term holidays. From painting fences to fixing wireless device connection issues, reporting plants to clearing paths to make them less slippery, I visit a number of senior citizens. Whilst the odd-jobs provide value in themselves, I take pride in being a friendly visitor whom they can chat to, make tea for (often after not seeing anyone in person for days) as these individuals mainly live alone with no local family. In this role, I created lesson plans and delivered them in an engaging manner to groups of children between 2 and 18 years old, as well as supervised students off-site on sporting fixtures and other outward events whilst liaising with other teachers. In the evenings, priorities moved towards boarding students and creating events to produce a homely atmosphere when sleeping at school. Another duty was to wake up students and make sure that they are punctual ready for school and eating breakfast.
