Catarina is detail-oriented and a big picture thinker, a confident leader, and an easygoing companion. She stepped in as the Interim Executive Director of the Vancouver Association for Survivors of Torture (VAST) as the organization was going through a period of significant transition. Catarina quickly took stock of the organization's strengths and immediately identified numerous opportunities for growth. I was particularly impressed with Catarina's ability to engage me and my fellow Directors of the Board and empower us to take a more proactive approach to the strategic management of the organization. VAST was truly fortunate to have Catarina at the helm as it transitioned into its next phase of growth (and its 30th year of serving refugees!).

I had the pleasure of working with Catarina who was brought in as the interim executive director of the Vancouver Association for Survivors of Torture (VAST). VAST was at a crossroads, and the board was looking for an experienced professional with a strong community background who could help us develop an organizational strategy and refine our focus on refugee mental health. Catarina was highly recommended and we were happy to bring her in from QMUNITY. In her role, Catarina was able to balance the board's long term strategic goals with managing the day-to-day roles and responsibilities of a non-profit. Catarina tackled HR, fundraising, administration, transitioning offices, the budget, and more. One of her most important projects developed a snapshot of our history and current programs, and was able to articulate our vision in a clear and concise way. As a leader, Catarina was collaborative with both the staff and the board. We leaned on her expertise and experience in maintaining our connections to the community and expanding our reach to help serve new clients and build new partnerships. This is the first professional recommendation I've given on LinkedIn, and I hope that speaks to the character and professionalism I enjoyed while working with Catarina.

I had the pleasure of working with Catarina in transitioning the leadership of the Vancouver Association for Survivors of Torture (VAST). Catarina's efforts and vision allowed for an incredibly smooth and successful transition, and she was able to ensure that the organization's relationships, systems, and processes, were well organized and planned. She is skillful and intelligent and enjoyable to collaborate with and I am happy to recommend her.
