  The OECD/SWAC’s work on cities and urbanisation relies on Africapolis.org, the only comprehensive and standardised geospatial database on urbanisation dynamics in Africa. Combining demographic sources and satellite imagery, the database is designed to enable comparative and long-term analyses of urban dynamics – covering more than 7 600 agglomerations in 50 African countries. Africapolis proposes a standardised spatial approach to Africa’s urbanisation, in order to design appropriate policies to address this unprecedented African development challenge. Responsibilities included but were not limited to: - Conducting research and writing for a “Maps and Facts” publication No. 85, “Urban development assistance mostly benefits big cities.” The research included extensive analysis of OECD DAC data sets performed via Microsoft Excel. Please find the link to the publication attached below. - Identifying main stakeholders in West Africa in order to establish a permanent OECD/SWAC Secretariat, necessary to develop a shared vision of urbanisation in Africa and propose solutions for better urbanisation policies. - Creating communications for OECD/SWAC Social Media Campaigns, including those for G7 Summit 2019 and ECOWAS 2019. - Conducting research and writing briefs on new and emerging African cities, sustainable urbanization projects, ODA and hospitals in West Africa.
