Certified Professional Coder: Abstracted and coded emergency transport medical records for ground, rotor, and fixed wing. Responsible for 2-3 clients/programs. Coded approximately 100 charts total per day, sometimes more depending on volume. Specialized in private insurances, Medicare, Medicaid, and Workman’s Comp. Coded charts using ICD-9-CM and HCPC codes through Golden Hour Data Systems software. Compliance and Quality Control: Reviewed transport charts for medical necessity and appropriate coding. Conducted CAF (Closer Appropriate Facility) reviews for Medicare and Medicaid charts. Maintained excel sheets to track data for each client I was responsible for. Flexibility/Adaptability: Assigned 2-3 clients that were based in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. I had to know the different medical insurance guidelines for each of those states. Cross-trained with a team of coders that were all assigned different programs/clients as well. During month-end, we would all help each other to be more efficient during such a high volume of charts that needed to be billed. Customer Service: Conducted monthly reviews on about 20-30 transports per client. Communicated to clients any discrepancies and changes that needed to be made for more efficiency. Show less
