I started Encore Performance Apparel in 2003 as a full service for custom show choir costumes for high school & colleges in the Los Angeles area. A family business, we would provide a full design service from sketch to, custom fittings. for both men & women. Also provided accessories, such as shoes, hats gloves & ties etc. Holiday costuming, dance & historical. Encore also housed a division of womens sportswear, with 2Brands. Both in the contemporary market, the first brand named Szulika was… Show more I started Encore Performance Apparel in 2003 as a full service for custom show choir costumes for high school & colleges in the Los Angeles area. A family business, we would provide a full design service from sketch to, custom fittings. for both men & women. Also provided accessories, such as shoes, hats gloves & ties etc. Holiday costuming, dance & historical. Encore also housed a division of womens sportswear, with 2Brands. Both in the contemporary market, the first brand named Szulika was launched in 2004 & had an 8 season run shipping aprox 75 boutiques nationwide. The other brand was called Belle Heroine. launched in 2006. It was a younger casual spinoff of Szulika. Also shipping aprox 80 boutiques nationwide. As it was a family affair: my mother was my partner & she handled all of the sewing operations. I handled all administration & design & all facets of production. Tragically My mother passed away suddenly in 2007 as the company was in full motion, it was a devastating blow to myself and eventually the company, as she had proven to have shoes far to large to fill. It was at this time that I chose to switch gears and pursue another endeavor which had been eluding me for those years i was working...motherhood. I packed it up & headed home, accepting a few freelance jobs while pregnant, but eventually calling it a permanent hiatus. (Unless something far too tempting comes along!)
